FAQ

Can you stop my creditors harassing me?

Once you have contacted us you will have taken the first step to potentially reducing the contact of letters and phone calls from creditors. With repayment schemes such as a Debt Management Plan (DMP), Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) or Debt Relief Order your creditors will usually be aware of the arrangement. In fact, with an IVA the majority of creditors have to vote in favour of the arrangement before it can be set up. Even those creditors that haven’t voted in favour of an IVA will have to abide by the conditions of the IVA if it goes ahead.

Some arrangements will only include certain types of debt. For example, a Debt Management Plan is for non-priority debts only so it won’t include things such as your mortgage, utility bills or council tax arrears. However, some arrangements have a wider scope as to which debts can be included so it is best to get in touch with us for further advice by filling in our online form.

If you still receive calls from creditors in respect of debts that have been covered by your particular repayment plan, then you should state this to them and refer them to the company administering the plan. It is important for you to make sure that you include all of your bills when getting in contact with us as we cannot include any that we don’t know about.

Give us 5 minutes and we'll give you:

  • Advice on all debt solutions that you may apply for
  • If your debt can be written off
  • Explain any interest or charges that can be frozen
  • Honest, no obligation advice

Some solutions, such as a Debt Management Plan or an Individual Voluntary Arrangement involve costs when the plan is set up.  These costs are there to cover the expenses and work undertaken on your behalf.  You will always be told clearly about any costs upfront.  Other solutions, such as a Bankruptcy incur costs which are payable to the Court; Debt Relief Orders incur costs which are payable to the Insolvency service.
